First
of all...
Get Rid of Any Ads from Your Blog
You
don't need them. They pay you virtually nothing. And they turn readers - and
potential subscribers - off.
That's
how amateurs monetize their blogs.
Pros
make money on the backend - by selling things to their subscribers... after
they've earned their trust.
Whatever
you blog about and whoever you blog for, your subscribers are hungry for
something.
Every Person on This Earth Is Hungry for Something
You
just need to know what that hunger is, and how you can provide for it.
Let's
say you blog about cooking and you share all your favourite recipes with your
subscribers. Well, they're going to be hungry for recipe books, rare
ingredients, cooking equipment, novelties for their table... loads of things.
You
could make these products yourself... like an eBook compilation of all your
favourite recipes... or packed jars of a rare spice, which happens to be sold
at the market around the corner from you.
Or
let's say you blog about dating, and you share all your best tips with your
subscribers. Well, they're hungry for more dating success. You could sell
eBooks too... or you could sell personalised consulting over the telephone.
You
see where I'm going with this. If you're willing to think outside the
box...
You Can Sell Almost Anything to Your Subscribers
As
long as it's related to the subject you're blogging about.
Heck,
you don't even have to provide anything yourself. You can refer them to other
people and businesses... in return for a referral fee.
There
are loads of businesses out there, desperate for affiliates who can bring them
new customers. And you have a crowd of enthusiasts who trust you.
But
remember, your success depends on your readers and subscribers trusting you.
You first job is always to provide interesting and useful content. That's how
you create trust.
Don't Ever Take Your Subscribers' Trust for Granted
If
you start treating your list like a cash cow, you'll burn it out. They'll stop
reading your emails, stop visiting your blog and your most valuable asset - the
relationship you have with your subscribers - will be destroyed.
